Sam Jones Sermons C.H. Spurgeon's Sermon Notes - Genesis To Revelation
Foreword by Dr. Tim Green

"Reading gives delight, class, and ability; the wise crave it, the crafty discourage it, and the stupid neglect it."

From the foreword:
"Sam Jones the man was a trophy of the grace of God. His salvation experience is the definition of Psa. 40:2. He preached to an estimated twenty-five million people in his lifetime with 500,000 being saved. Surely this ex-lawyer that lived a life of drunken dissipation became God's giant from Georgia.

Sam Jones' sermons thunder down through time and laser themselves to the pages of this little booklet. To capture this man's might and power in a few sermons would be like catching Niagra in a water glass, containing an atomic blast in a closet or harnessing all the sun's rays in a single roof top solar panel. Impossible!

His preaching is powerful, humerous, powerful, illustrative, powerful, informative, powerful, scholarly, powerful, sound and powerful. The message on repentance (a missing note in the chorus of modern day preaching) is a classic that needs to be read and re-read. Preached and repreached. Studied and re-studied. The illustrations found in these sermons are timely and usable even today. I pray God will strangely and surely warm your heart as you pursue these pages.

193 Sermon Outlines Edited and Condensed - Four volumes in One

"Reading gives delight, class, and ability; the wise crave it, the crafty dscourage it, and the stupid neglect it."

Foreward by Dr. Tom Malone

Foreward:

Charles Haddon Spurgeon was born on June 19, 1834 and after a glorious ministry departed this life on January 31, 1892. It is doubtful if his life for Christ, his great preaching, and his influence on the world has been surpassed by any other man since the ministry of the apostle Paul. Many millions who never heard him preach have read his sermons and imagined how it would have been in the great Metropolitan Tabernacle from 1861 to June of 1891, to hear this spiritual giant preach the Word of God. We do not have him to day but we have his writings.

Spurgeon was a great reader from his early boyhood and devoured the work of Foxe and Bunyan, He showed to us that it was no sin to borrow from the writings of others. Jesus borrowed a boat, a colt, and a pillow upon which to lay His head. In the earliest days of my minitry I read from twenty volumes of Spurgeon's sermons and with prayer and study used many of his thoughts putting them into my own words. My sermon preparation in later years was greatly influenced by the sermons of R.A. Torrey. It would be foolish to ignore the great works of Spurgeon and not use his help in our own preaching. This book of Sermon Notes By Spurgeon to quote the great preacher, "is not to encourage indolence but to help." It is like pouring water into a pump to help it draw much more to quench the thirst of thirsty souls. plagiarism is dishonest but "borrowing" is honorable. We must use all the help we can get that God may make us better preachers and soul winners. A thorough study of one of these great Bible outlines produces many other original thoughts and sermons. We study the Word of God and seek the power of the Holy Spirit for our preaching but we should remember that the thoughts and words of Aquila and Priscilla made Apollos even a greater preacher.

Spurgeon was a separatist, a man of scripture and a soul winner and his printed works are the same.

How To Work For Christ Sermon's Of Jonathan Edwards
Preface by R.A. Torrey
This book is written for both ministers and laymen. It will be a help to the minister in suggesting to him how to make full proof of his own ministry and how to get his people to work. It will be of help to laymen in leading them into many fields of fruitful labor for Christ.
The Church of Christ is full of people who wish to work for their Master but do not know how. This book is intended to tell them how. It contains no untried theories, but describes many methods of work that have been put to the test of actual experiment and have succeeded. So far as I know, there is no other book that covers the same filed. For years it has been upon my heart to write this book, and I have been asked again and again to do so. But I have never found time for it until now. May it be used of God to the conversion of thousands to Christ.
Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) began his education at Yale College when he was thirteen years old. He served as pastor of the Congregational Church in Northampton, Massachusetts, for over twenty years. His published sermons were widely circulated in America and England. He also served as a missionary to native Americans, and he was called to be president of the College of New Jersey (Princeton) just prior to his untimely death.

701 Sentence Sermons Fascinating Truths
By James L. Harvey

"You can communicate the message of Christ creatively and inexpensively through a simple, everyday device - the church sign. In this age of short attention spans and slogan-lovers, it's important that the church effectively communicate the gospel in "sound bites" - on signs or in bulletins, newsletters, adn sermons.

Each sentence sermon - whether from Scripture, contemporary thought, or the sages of life - encapsulates one pertinant thought in a pithy phrase, giving people profound yet simple truth that is quickly digested and easily remembered.

In addition to 701 ready-to-use, short, meaty messages, Dr. Harvey presents many practical suggestions for an effective sign ministry.
By James W. Knox

Moody's Notes From My Bible and Anecdotes and Illustrations God's Answers to Man's Questions
Foreword by Tom Wallace

To the reader:

The arrangement of this book is simple. Over against the text is the thought or illustration. At the beginning of the books and chapters of the Bible is placed whatever has a general reference to that section. A number of miscellaneous outlines are added at the end of Revelation.

I take this opportunity of impressing upon you, reader, the advantage of taking notes. Let this book serve you not only as a storehouse, but also as a stimulus. Whether you are minister or layman, you will find that you will grow more deeply interested in your Bible day by day if you follow the course of making notes of sayings similar to those contained in this volume, of outline sermons, and of anything that helps to light up some well-known truth and fasten it to the memory. It is a good thing to be ready with new thoughts to present the old truths of the Bible.

God grant that this book may be very helpful to you.

With Supplement Including God's Promises to You, by Alban Douglas

"I was delighted to learn that Larry Harrison has decided to reprint Dr. W.E. Kennedy's book, "GOD'S ANSWERS TO MAN'S QUESTIONS".

In the late 70's and 80's I ordered and distributed hundreds of copies of this unique book. Everybody who saw it wanted a copy. It was the most popular book on my book table.

Dr. Kennedy gathered and assembled outlines of many of the great old preachers of the past as well as well-known preachers of his own day. These outlines were organized in topic and Bible themes and provided a wealth of Bible study, teaching helps, and helpful sermon material. Pastors, teachers, ad students will welcome this new printing.

Soon after the death of the author "GOD'S ANSWERS TO MAN'S QUESTIONS" went out of print My phone has rung many times with an inquiry as to where one might obtain a copy. Now, that problem has been solved. Those who invest in a copy will not be disappointed.

Soul-Winning Sermons Great Sermons
Foreword by Dr. Wally Beebe (deceased)

My first time to see Dr. Vick was in the chapel services at Bob Jones University. He was held in awe as a great church builder, administrator, and educator. It was later my privilege to get to know Dr. Vick personally, hear him many times, and speak for him in the Baptist Bible Fellowship National meetings.Although I can not say that I was a close friend of Dr. Vick, he confided many interesting truths as I questioned him about his ministry. He was a dynamic administrator, and if he had entered the secular field, would have easily have been president of General Motors or some other large corporation. He instead chose to apply his talents in the Lord's work and he inspired so many young preachers to greater heights by his life and organizational methods.

I shall never forget him speaking on divine multiplication where in the book of Acts we saw growth that came from souls being saved in the local church!

We are in the midst of a generation that did not know Dr. Vick, but need to be reminded of his great compassion for souls and his personal interest in his church members. I do not ever recall him speaking, that he did not personally reference someone in his church that he had led to Christ, or had the privilege of helping in some way. May this reprint of these wonderful old sermons give new life to all who read.

Selected Sermons of George Whitefield Spitirual Leadership Vol.2
With an account of his life by J.C. Ryle, D.D., and a summary of his doctrine by R. Eliot, A.B.

Foreword by Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones

It is a privilege to be asked to commend this volume, and to be associated in any way with two such names as George Whitefield and Bishop Ryle.

Nothing has been sadder in the story of the last fifty years in the church, nor more significant, than the way in which George Whitefield has been neglected, and especially as one considers the very considerable attention that has been given to his contemporary, John Wesley. That was certainly not the position two hundred years ago, and it should not be the case now.

Of all the men of the eighteenth century whom God raised up to do that marvelous work called "the Evangelical Awakening" , none was more remarkable than George Whitefield. Of few men can it be said that their preaching was "apostolic" in character; but it certainly can be said of Whitefield. His whole career from beginning to end was an amazing phenomenon and his Herculean labours both in Great Britain and America can only be explained by the power of the Holy Ghost.

But Whitefield was not only the greatest preacher and orator of the eighteenth century, he was also one of the most saintly characters, if not the saintliest of all. Certainly their was no more humble or lovable man amongst them. What can be more profitable, next to the Bible itself, than to read something of the life of such a man and to read his own words.

This volume provides an excellent introduction. The famous essay by Bishop Ryle is certainly the best short account and evaluation of Whitefield that has ever been done and it is god that it should be reprinted. At the same rime this volume ]provides samples of the great preacher's sermons which serve to illustrate the points emphasized by the Bishop. It is a judicious and representative selection.

May God grant that, as we read of the man whom God made so mighty, and the things which h taught and preached, we all may be led to long for and to pray for such a revival in our day and generation as God gave Hi sovereign grace and mercy two hundred years ago.

Roman Catholicism Past & Present

...a travelogue, considering the Roman Catholic Church in light of Revelation 17

By David Cloud

This report takes a serious look at the Roman Catholic Church, both past and present. There is a powerful back-to-Rome movement throughout Christianity today, from liberal Protestantism to Charismaticism to Evangelicalism. These either accept the Roman Catholic Church non-critically or, more commonly, they acknowledge that Rome has serious doctrinal errors but speak of these in soft terms and refuse to treat rome as Protestants and Baptists once did, as the forerunner to the Harlot of Revelation 17.
