Description

An old adage says that crime does not pay. But through the efforts of slick and often unscrupulous lawyers, many criminals seem to escape penalty for their deeds. It seems like some have literally gotten away with murder because of the failure of human courts to deliver justice.

Some have been tempted to follow the path of those whom they see become wealthy by dishonest means. Such people reason that if some have found a way to make crime pay, then surely they too can take advantage of the same weaknesses in the justice system.

In The Pay-Up Day, Evangelist Fred Barlow shows that there is a court where justice cannot be thwarted. "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil" (Eccles. 12:13, 14). In the final analysis, no one will "get away with" anything.

Since "all have sinned" (Rom. 3:23), our only hope is the mercy of the Judge, which we can find in Christ Jesus. Only those who are in Christ will stand safe in the judgment. For all others "pay-up day" will surely arrive.
