The Happy Book: A Biblical Study on Joy and Happiness

I love to tell people that God is always good! It is one of my greatest joys in life. I'm not the only one that likes to say it either! A Bible character named David loved to write, sing, and speak about God's goodness. He wrote many of the Psalms (a psalm is also called a song) in the Bible and in those songs he mentions the goodness of God over and over. 

In October of 1995, I was diagnosed with aseptic meningitis. This illness, along with some complicated circumstances, plunged me into a life of pain and physical limitations. Severe headaches became part of my daily life along with numerous other mental and physical difficulties. 

My abilities to walk and talk were also severely limited and are still somewhat today. Yet I love to tell people, "I may have to be sick, but I don't have to be grouchy about it!" Although some pain is an everyday part of my life, I refuse to let it destroy my love and joy. I have two wonderful physicans, but most of all I have Jesus, "The Great Physician!" He can treat the heart, soul, and mind. Under His wonderful care, I can rejoice even in my pain. 

The happiness movement is ruining many people's lives today. Many people are doing terrible things in order to find happiness. It is devastating many lives. Does God really want us happy? It depends on what you mean by happiness! Please read this study from God's Word on this wonderufl subject. Know when happiness isn't the best or even right mood, but joy is always right. We need to know the difference. Learn what God wants for His people. I think you will be happier for doing it! Remember God is always good and always right!
